Sian is an eight-year-old girl who comes from a family of three girls. In 2022, Sian’s mother passed away, leaving her father as the soul caretaker and provider of his daughters. The family lost their livestock during the long drought. Her father is a sand harvester, but the job does not make ends meet. Sian’s father became frustrated and ashamed that he could not support his family and began to drink. Sian loves school and dreams of an education. She was brought to a local board member’s attention. The board member helped Sian and her father fill out an application. Sian received an MGEF scholarship and started classes in January 2026. She no longer fears being sent home due to lack of school fees.
