Peninah is a 13 year old girl, who comes from a family of six children. Her father died last June, 2023. Her mother was a housewife, who found herself in desperate need of a job. She is illiterate with no work experience, but she was able to find a job washing clothes in order to support her family. Her mother tries to send her children to school, but it is very hard and she sometimes depends on well wishers and neighbors. Peninah loves school, but finds it difficult to keep up with her classes, because she is often sent home due to lack of school fees. The head teacher at Peninah’s school contacted the local MGEF board member asking for assistance for her. Peninah was accepted to MGEF’s Scholarship program and she can now concentrate on her school work.
