Mashalyne is an eight-year-old girl who comes from a family of three children. Both of her parents believe in an education. Both of them have a high school degree. This is not enough of an education to compete in the Kenyan workforce, so her father supports the family with a motorcycle taxi. Her mother volunteers for a nursery in the hope of possible getting a paying position at some point. The family barely survives, and this year there was no money for school fees. The local board member was contacted by Mashalyne’s parents. She helped them fill out an application and Mashalyne was accepted in January 2026. She now goes to school and can concentrate on her studies and not worry about being sent home due to lack of school fees.
