Magdalene is a 17 year old girl, who is an orphan with five siblings. Her father died when she was very young, leaving her mother to support the six children. A few years later, Magdalene’s mother also passed due to cancer. The children have managed to survive with the help of relatives. Magdalene was able to continue school with the financial aid of neighbors and relatives. Recently, due to draught, no one has been able to assist her with school fees and she was sent home with a large school balance. The local MGEF Board member was made aware of Magdalene’s struggles and she met with her to help her fill out an application. Magdalene was delighted to be accepted in the MGEF Scholarship Program for Term 1 of 2022. She is happy to return to school without the constant worry that she will be sent home due to lack of school fees.
