Leah is a 15 year old girl, who comes from a family of seven. Her father is a farmer and her mother stays at home to take care of Leah’s disabled brother. Due to the draught, her father struggles to maintain an income from the farm. He takes odd jobs to help the family survive. As with many Maasai girls, if the family is struggling to survive and they don’t have outside support to go to school, she is in danger of being married off. She becomes a mouth to feed and for survival her father may choose this option. Leah is a bright girl and loves school. Leah was brought to the MGEF-Kajiado office in hopes of being awarded a scholarship. She filled out an application and was accepted for Term 1 of 2022. She is so excited to be able to continue with her education.
