Joan is a 10 year old girl, who comes from a family of five children. Her parents are unemployed and have lost most of their livestock due to the drought. They are very much in favor of educating their children. They understand that it is the only way out of poverty for their children. They struggle to put all five children to school. When they heard about MGEF, they quickly contacted the office in hopes of a scholarship. Joan does very well in school and they feared they would not be able to send her this year. Joan was accepted and is thrilled to be in school with no worries of being sent home due to lack of school fees.
