Clara is a 14 year old girl who comes from a polygamist family of 10 children. Clara’s mother was married against her will to an old man, who already had two wives. Her mother had three children before the other two wives passed away, leaving her to take care of all 10 children. Clara’s father had no job and the family struggled to put food on the table. Clara’s mother decided to leave her husband with her three children. She does casual work and is able to supply herself and her three children with the basics, but she cannot afford school fees. Clara was able to attend primary school with the help of well wishers. Clara did well and was accepted into a good secondary school. but her mother could not pay the tuition. Her mother went to the local MGEF board member, who helped Clara fill out an application. Clara was accepted and started Form 1 (9th grade) in January 2024. She is very happy to be able to continue with her education.
