Anne is a 13-year-old girl who comes from a family of 6 children. The entire family relies on her mothers casual labor. Her father is a violent alcoholic and torments the family when he is home. Fortunately, he does not often come home. Her mother works casual jobs which sometimes includes manual labor traditionally done by men, but she is desperate for money to support her children and to send them to school. The local school that was affordable was a long walk for Anne. It is in a very rural area, which is full of elephants. Therefore, it was a dangerous trip for her. Anne is a smart little girl who loves school. Her mother approached one of our local board members who helped her fill out an application. Anne was accepted into the scholarship program in January 2025. She is happy to be able to go to a boarding school where she doesn’t have to worry about getting to school safely.
