Hope is an 11-year-old girl who lives with her grandparents. Her mother was married off after giving birth to Hope. The husband did not want Hope, so she was given to her mother’s parents. Her grandfather does not believe in educating girls and wants to marry Hope to an older man for a dowry. Her grandmother is old and very ill and is unable to help Hope. Hope is a very bright girl who dreams of becoming a police woman to help her community. She loves school. A local MGEF board member was told of Hope’s situation, so she visited her home. Her grandparents agreed to fill out an application. Hope was accepted into the MGEF Scholarship program in January 2025. She is very happy to be in school with a bright future ahead of her.
