Esther is an 11-year-old girl who lives with her great aunt. Her mother became pregnant while in secondary school. She gave her baby to her mother to watch while she went back to school. Esther’s grandmother was unable to care for the baby so she gave her to her sister. Esther’s great aunt and her husband are old and have two other grandchildren who live with them and depend on them also. Esther’s mother graduated from high school but has not taken Esther back and has decided to live her own life without her daughter. Esther loves school and her great aunt is very supportive of education. Her great aunt looked for a way to keep Esther in school, and she learned of MGEF. She brought Esther to a local board member who helped her fill out an application. Esther was accepted into the scholarship program in January of 2025. She is very happy to be able to return to school with no worries of being sent home due to lack of school fees.
