January 2023
Joyline comes from a polygamist family of 23 children. Her father has three wives. Her parents do manual work to support the family and have tried hard to send their children to school, but Joyline’s uncle has mostly supported the education of the girls in the family. Joyline does very well in school and scored a very high mark on her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam. She knew there was no money for her to continue her education. She was very pro active in finding a way to go to secondary school and was eventually told about the MGEF Scholarship Program. She approached a local board member and was accepted into the program in January of 2023. She is so happy to be able to continue her education, and now sees her goal of becoming a teacher a possibility.
