Susan is a 17 year old girl, who comes from a polygamist family of three wives and 25 children. She has nine siblings from her mother and 15 from her step mothers. Susan’s father married her two older full sisters off to older men after primary school. Susan’s father passed away from cancer in 2020. She has since lived with her sister and her husband, because there is such poverty at home. Her sister and her husband also struggle. There is no money for her school fees. Susan is a very eager student and does well in school. Susan was brought to the local MGEF board member, who helped her fill out an application. Susan was accepted into the MGEF Scholarship Program June 2021, and will begin Term 1 this July.
