Sophy is a 15 year old girl who comes from a very poor family of eight children. Her father is a sand harvester, but he is not able to make enough money to support the family. They have tried to send the children to school, but they are often sent home due to lack of school fees. With the pandemic, a bad situation became worse. The family sometimes go without food and Sophy’s mother must go from home to home asking for food for the children. A neighbor told the MGEF-Kajiado office about Sophy and her family in the summer of 2020. Sophy was accepted into MGEF over the summer, but since school was canceled due to COVID19, she did not start school until January 2021.
