Laureen Naisoi

Laureen Naisoi

January 2020

Laureen is a six year old girl, who comes from a very poor family. She has two older sisters and one younger brother. Her parents believe in educating their children, but simply cannot afford it. Her father drives cattle to the market place for a living and her mother does not work. Her father’s job doesn’t pay enough, so the family depends on well wishers for help. They have managed to put Laureen’s two older sisters into a local primary school, but they are often sent home due to lack of school fees. A third child in school was too much, so they told Laureen that she could not go to school at this time. One of MGEF new junior board members, an MGEF alumna, heard of little Laureen’s plight and brought her to the office to fill out an application. Laureen received a scholarship from MGEF in January 2020. Laureen is a very jovial and ambitious little girl, who dreamt of going to school.  Now her dream has come true.
