Jackline Tananko

June 2021

Jackline is a 13 year old girl, who comes from a family of eight children. Her parents strongly believe in education and have tried to send all eight children to school. Her father works as a herdsmen and her mother is a housewife. The pandemic has added to the families financial hardships, as work for her father has not been steady. Though Jackline’s parents have tried their best to keep all of their children in school, she is often sent home due to lack of school fees. Jackline’s teacher contacted the local MGEF Board Member. The board member met Jackline and her family and realized that, much to her parents dismay, they could not afford to send Jackline to school this July for Term 1. An application was filled out and submitted and Jackline was accepted into the MGEF Scholarship Program to start Term 1 in July 2021. Now she can go to school and concentrate on her studies and not worry about being sent home.
