Agnes is a 15 year old girl who comes from a polygamist family that consists of two wives and seven children. Her mother sells Maasai beadwork to the tourist outside Amboseli Park, but the family mostly survives off of handouts from neighbors. Agnes is a very good student, and had done very well through primary school. Her mother’s friend supported her through primary school, but she disappeared when Agnes started secondary school. Agnes was sent home due to lack of school fees at the end of Term 2 in 2022. Our local board member was told of Agnes and immediately met with her to fill out an application. Agnes joined MGEF for Term 3 of 2022. She was so happy to be able to return to school and finish her freshman year. She will continue her education without the fear of being sent home due to lack of school fees.
